Mens 2008 Season Summary

Posted by Saint John RFC on April 3, 2009 at 3:15 PM

A big thanks to everyone for their hard work and dedication this past season. We started off a little rocky but ended up playing great Irish rugby, lots of crashing from the forwards and then spinning the ball out to the backs. We ended beating the Wildmen 13-8 this past Saturday and from the opening whistle you could tell we had only one thing on our mind and that was to win

We had a season full of rookies. Sam "Stash" MacKay, Chainsaw, Big "D", Chris "Dr." Edge, Josh "Puke" Bent, Clinton "Powder" O'Neill, Josh "Freight Train" Brown, Nick "Cool" Coombes, Dan "2nd Row" Oliver. Enough can't be said about this new crop of talent.

I'm very excited for next year as if things stay on course we are going to have a killer back field and forwards are looking really good. Kirk "Radio" Leary really stepped up his game this year and is made for rugby and proved that this past Saturday in the lineouts, tackling, and rucking

When you see them don't forget to thank our coach Adam Brown and our high school coaches Neil Britt, Chris MacKenzie, and Adam Brown for helping in recruiting for the team.

The club wants to shout out a big thanks to the Hon. Stuart Jamieson, (liberal representative for the Saint John-Fundy constituency) for his help in aquiring land and funding for our new field.
